Excited to teach this new class today at Two Hands Paperie. Magical Journey, Magical Journal is a unique travel and creativity class that has allowed me to look at what I really believe about magic and travel and creativity. I’ve had so many experiences that show me that the world is a magical place and that keeping an illustrated journal highlights that. I can’t wait to share this. The class sold out right away and there’s a big waiting list, so I suspect this is something others are craving too, this connection to magic. Would this be a class you would want to take from me?
Paris, how do I love thee, let me count the ways… There are so many things to love about Paris, but I’ve chosen a few of the civic niceties that make the streets of Paris pleasant for me.
More to come in this vein. Vive Paris!
I love my art life! This morning I woke up and realized that I needed to put my Journey Blessings on my work in progress board to see them all. It makes me happy to see them here and I have about 30 more to make. Pure joy and play!
Today’s Journey Blessing: Your luggage goes with you. I travel a lot and have used this blessing to make sure that my luggage always arrives with me. So far it’s worked, and I’ve never had lost luggage. Sending prayers of gratitude to the travel gods!
I’ve been waiting for this book, the second in a series by Danny Gregory, for a long time.
Here’s my enthusiastic book review of An Illustrated Journey by Danny Gregory.
As I mentioned in my video about my artist travel kit, on this recent trip to Paris I experimented with a larger journal. This Moleskine notebook is filled with watercolor pages, and I played with paints and brush instead of watercolor crayons. I did not have time to do anything in the notebook I hoped to capture architectural drawings in….next time.
In my journals I practice drawing, learn how to apply paint, and capture random moments in my trip. I’m usually waiting…for the métro, for a meal, or just sitting enjoying a cup or glass on my treks in the city.
These pages aren’t finished, but I know that if I wait until they are ‘perfect’ I’ll never post them. Enjoy this peek into my recent trip to Paris.
When we leave the safety of home and embark on a trip, the reward for our risks can be a deluge of new perspectives, ideas and insights. These boons of inspiration spark like fireworks, rising in us, exciting us, and leaving an imprint on our minds and souls. And then they’re gone. We risk returning […]

Formerly published in 2009 here, I offer these perspectives to you again, so your summer travel may incite your creative juju. Creativity is a combination of skills, qualities and perspectives that allows someone to bring ideas […]

This week I featured Elizabeth Briel , an artist who also travels a lot. I asked her how travel affects her art, and after she answered, I thought about how traveling as an artist is different than traveling for work or tourism. Whatever your purpose for travel, you can borrow from artists to enhance your […]
