    I’m curious about what kinds of things are included in your 37. Only art things? Others?

      Sherri,
      Thanks for your curiosity! I’m considering posting the list. A few items include:
      time on the schedule to make art
      freedom to make art that’s not related to my business
      labeling my journals
      filming my journals
      using a bigger notebook
      using a thicker pen
      and lots more, all over the map. Both related to making the art and showing the art. Lots of learning curves to lean into.
      What’s on your list?

    I’ve just discovered your blog, your creative work and your coaching services. I came across this particular post and immediately took up your idea of free writing for 10 minutes. It was such a relief to just let these ideas out onto the page, in no particular order. I will let them germinate and tomorrow will put them in order and then one by one, as you say, do them. Thank you for sharing. I came across this just when I needed it most.

    Kate,
    Welcome!
    I’m so glad this was helpful for you! It was a tremendously helpful process for me. My artist finally felt heard – and respected. Then my coach/project manager was able to take her desires and put them in order.
    Together we are making our way through the list and it’s really fun. I feel so much more space for the artist and much less cranky about my creative dreams.
    Let me know how the structuring process goes, and have fun!

    I just wanted to thank you for your inspiration!
    I wrote on my desk blotter your message above: “Take your creative impulses seriously”, and so I did.
    Yesterday, right after work, I made a portfolio for my calligraphy practice. It was simple and easy to do, and I intended it that way. It turned out better than expected! Now, I am designing a little book to put all the greeting cards and love notes given to me over the years.
    Thank you for your blog!
