My focus for 2020

It’s not my practice to choose a word for the year. I always have such a hard time deciding on just one! This year, two areas of focus came to me.

My main focus for this year is Connect. To myself, to my higher self, to others. I’ve been in a pattern of doing a lot of big work projects. It’s time to slow down and let things settle.

The other half of my intention is Space. To leave space for things to come to me, space for others to speak and be heard, hold space for writers to grow.

There have been a lot of changes at Original Impulse – new web site, new book, new podcast and more. No matter what the structure, my commitment to creatives is always the same: I am here to end the self-battle over our creativity. To help others know, like and trust themselves and their creative process so they can make things that matter. The work itself is challenging enough; I am here to help us get out of our own way so we can enjoy the ride.

Let’s make things we love, shall we? Here’s to a fabulous 2020 for all.

Mine is PURPOSE. I just signed a book deal and this year will be spent finishing the book which combines my love of art, design, travel, nature and ADVENTURE! I feel like all the passions of my life are coming together for this book – my purpose for now.

    I LOVE your podcast btw!

      Sharisse,

Congratulations!!! That is so exciting. I can’t wait to read/see your book – I love all those topics! Enjoy the process of pulling it all together.

Thank you for your feedback on Stumbling Toward Genius! It makes me happy knowing you are listening and hopefully benefiting from it.

      Keep creating!

Mine is BE or BEING. Two words almost the same and yet with profound differences. Upon the realization that I had accomplished much on my list of goals, I found myself exhausted. I missed enjoying the process and ended up almost depleted. For the time being, I will simply BE and enjoy BEING. Years ago you told me, “You can trust yourself and your process”. I have always trusted myself…Now I have learned to trust my process. I will always be thankful for your words of wisdom. Thank you, Cynthia!

I love this, Gaye. I think you are in the same place a lot of us are – recognizing that there’s more to just DOING all the time!

I am glad you are more and more trusting of your creative process. Let that be a focus for 2020 – feeling how good it is to trust yourself.

Mine are close to yours, Cynthia: Communicate, Connect, and Create. In the past I haven’t communicated fully, responsibly, and/or truthfully. I will also focus on Connect because I don’t really connect as much as I should with as many people as I can. As with some of us I don’t spend as much time as I could creating effectively.

Of course I create, connect, and communicate, but not in the manner and certainly not in the quality and quantity in which I know I can.

    Onward 2020!

This is great, Tim. I hear your intentionality in this. Yes, we can connect and communicate any time. How and why and with whom…that’s where we can be more intentional.
Happy new year! May 2020 be fruitful for you!
