I’ve read several Cara Black books, the Montmartre one while in Paris and the Marais, where we stayed, after we returned. I love reading books based in a city I know. It adds another layer of fun when you know the locations the writer uses. I need this book so I can revisit all the neighborhoods! :>)

Most of my travel is vicariously but I did go to Paris with a friend and had a great time during my “great escape” year. And I do love a good mystery.
Haven’t read anything by this author, but I’m intrigued! Sounds fun! Currently reading Peaches for Father Francis by Joanne Harris. The third book in the Chocolat Trilogy. Not Paris, not a mystery, but it is French!
Mysteries set in Paris, if Cara Black is the author, have the potential to include the many diverse cultures found within arguably the best city in the world. Readers who are unfamiliar with Paris beyond the stripey shirts and baguettes may be pleasantly surprised that it is in fact a lot more interesting (and mysterious) than the romantic stereotype. There are catacombs, dark alleys, and underground sewer networks that really exist in this city of pruned gardens, high fashion and priceless art. What better place for intrigue? Bravo, Cara Black, for your continued attention to detail and for introducing each arrondissement to us over time!
Mysteries in Paris cause me to discover the culture and thus the people of the city. Aimee’s cleverness and astuteness help me learn .. Plus her flea market finds encourage me to continue searching. She follows clues, asks questions and gets in trouble! If I were 30 again, I’d be her or Stephanie Plum or Kinsey Milhone — but Aimee is best.
