Friday Art: 30 paintings in 30 days

I don’t know why I decided to paint 30 paintings in 30 days, due by March 13th. I just did, and I didn’t even announce it publicly.
I’m writing this a few days ahead of time; I’ll be traveling on the due date and am prepping beforehand. My  scanning system broke down (had to uninstall, upgrade, reinstall – didn’t work, can’t figure it out now) so I don’t think I’ll be able to post all the paintings. I’ve done 25 out of 30.

It would be easy to not post but I love the progress I’ve made and I want to share this process. I’ve discovered that making isn’t the hard part; it’s sharing. Scanning, developing, resizing, tagging, cataloguing and posting takes a lot of time – X 30. This is one of the reasons I dread any kind of daily posting requirement.
Ten of these are for students in my Write Your Paris Stories class, a little gift for the first to enroll. The rest are just paintings of things I love. To call them paintings is a bit of a stretch – I see them as sketches. I wanted to practice my drawing and my light and shadow techniques. I shall continue these studies.
They’re not all successes, but there are several I love. Which are your favorites?

Charming. I think the Paris Bridge, Coat of Arms and the Wallace Fountain show how much you’ve progressed because of the perspective involved and you had to draw nudes! Or maybe they’re dressed, can’t tell.
Yeah, processing is a bitch. What a time sink. I can feel my life slipping away, almost worse than driving on LA freeways. I get into a rhythm and then I have to make sure I’m not completely on autopilot or I’ll miss a step.
Looking forward to seeing the rest. I’m proud of you for plowing through 30 of them!

Thanks, Bobbi! I see improvement too, which is gratifying! Much more fun than scanning issues!
Thanks for taking time to share your kind feedback and support. It means a lot to me. 🙂

Hi Cynthia – bravo for putting your art up here to delight and inspire us. It can be quite the hassle to scan, crop, tag, etc etc but the payoff is that you’re sharing your gifts with the world and that those sparks ignite more sparks of creativity and courage (!) from others.
I do hope you’re off on a grand adventure somewhere fun and I know that you are filling your sketchbook with what Wows you. I look forward to you sharing more of your art!

ps – I’m fond of your roses, the matchbooks and the cafetiere…but it was hard to narrow it down! I can hear your Paris Stories Writing “salon-ees” ooo-la-la-ing over their beautiful gifts!

Thanks, Frances! Scanning etc. is part of the job, you’re right. It was just really frustrating that the whole system went down and I wasn’t able to figure it out.
It’s just another one of those silly hurdles that can stop us. But I won’t let it! Your encouragement helps, and I appreciate it.
I’m in California for a workshop. Doing a little bit of journaling and get to go to the Matisse exhibit tomorrow!
Thanks for your support and kindness. 🙂
