WDS, day one, session one: Brené Brown, researcher and storyteller, takes the stage to crack our hearts wide open. Blending science, humor and story, Brené moved all of us to recognize and accept our vulnerability, to embrace our ‘uncoolness’ for the sake of our health and happiness.

The World Domination Summit in Color
Packing for the World Domination Summit in Portland, I hesitated to pack my watercolor crayons. I wasn’t sure I would be able to take visual notes at WDS.
I had other things on my mind: giving a presentation there on Sunday, sharing news of my novel with people I met, and getting in the proper mindset to deliver my book writing workshop later that week.
But I had to capture notes. It’s what I do. It helps me focus and it brightens my world. My notebook goes everywhere with me.
Artists: Buff Up Your Blog This Spring!
The Blog Triage class I co-lead with Art Biz Coach Alyson Stanfield is such a delight. I love helping artists write and blog more easily.
And, oooo! It’s spring and time to tidy up your blog, so we’re hosting another session of this blog-changing workshop.
How Was New York?
Enough people asked me about my trip to NYC that I felt a report was in order. Rather than try to write it up in an essay, I thought I’d share a bit of my travel companion – my Moleskine Japanese Album.
Paris Artist Interview with Graffiti Artist Sid Marquez
I was treated to a graffiti tour of Paris, culminating in seeing a piece come to life under Sid’s spray cans. The adventure was great fun. I captured a lot of footage and interviews; it was a great challenge to edit it down. Enjoy!
Art Every Day Month, The Last Week
Well, we’ve tipped over into December and my duty to make some art every day is officially over. I did complete a daily creative act – mainly scribblings and jibblings in my Moleskine accordion notebook. I will not stop because November has passed. I find this the best way to pass time otherwise spent sighing […]
Art Every Day Month Week Four
I’m not very pleased with this week’s output, but I’ve learned to not listen too much to my discontentment. On a happy note, this week I got my very first commission to do an illustration. I’m very excited and looking forward to seeing what this is like. Enjoy this week’s peek into my journal: […]
Art Every Day Month Week Three
This week I finished one Moleskine Japanese album and started another. I was tempted to go to my larger watercolor notebook, but decided to stay with the accordion format. I’m challenging myself to draw people – always difficult. While riding on the métro, I look for someone who is holding still and not looking at […]
Art Every Day Month, Week Two
It’s such a simple pleasure, doing something daily in my journal. I learn not to judge the first few lines on the page. I see my creative edges and how to push past them. I feel more connected to what’s around me and what’s in me. I love Art Every Day Month! Enjoy a peek […]
Art Every Day Month, Week One
I took the plunge and joined in Leah Piken Kolidas’ Art Every Day Month challenge. It’s pretty self-explanatory, and I’ve been using the structure to make sure I do something in my Moleskine Japanese album every day. I’ll post the week’s adventures once per week, since the processing and posting of the art is a whole project […]
