Women Writers' Tour of Paris
with Cynthia Morris
September 4th - 10th, 2006
Let Paris draw out the creative writer in you. Get to know our literary ancestors - Janet Flanner, Gertrude Stein, Anais Nin, Collette, Madame de Sevigny and more!
Walk in the footsteps of women writers who used Paris as their Muse. Visit historic literary sites and draw inspiration from the past in order to inspire our own writing. Absorb the Paris of today and see why this remains one of the worlds most vibrant cities.
A Unique Experience:
Be part of a select group of writers and adventurers to join writer and Paris lover Cynthia Morris on a unique journey in one of the worlds most creative cities. The small group dynamic ensures that everyone gets what they want from the trip.
Well flâner dans les rues, wander the winding streets of Paris to experience the secret delights of the city in a relaxed and engaging way. Heres a quick peek at what well see:
- The Marché Mouffetard Well buy picnic supplies at the Rue Mouffetard, a lively Parisian market street where Gertrude Stein used to stroll and have a picnic at the nearby Arene de Lutece.
- Montparnasse and St-Germain -- Well explore the cafés once frequented by Gertrude Stein, Simone de Beauvoir, Anaïs Nin, and Collette.
- The Marais -- Tour the historic streets of Marais district, once home to notorious letter writer Madame de Sevigny, and now a vibrant quarter of Jewish delis, hip clothing boutiques, and contemporary art galleries.
- The Ile-Saint-Louis -- Hear historic gossip on a walking tour of Paris chic little island, culminating in ice cream at Berthillon, reputed to be the best in France.
- Nouvelle Athènes District The center of artistic Paris in the mid-1800s, this neighborhood off the beaten tourist track is where well visit the adorable Musée de la Vie Romantique, an artists home and garden dedicated to the Romantic painters and the author George Sand.
- Père Lachaise Cemetery This vast hillside cemetery is one of the most beautiful in the world, with dramatic funereal statues keeping watch over the final resting places of many famous authors and artists.
- Well also enjoy a cruise on the Seine, take a wine-tasting course, and attend contemporary literary events such as readings and book signings..
