I get so much more from a book when I discuss it with others. When I read Linchpin, I was eager to hear what others thought. I particularly loved the concepts of emotional labor and our work as a gift we give without expecting a return.
I invited Mark McGuinness to join me in discussing these and other topics from Seth Godin's latest book, Linchpin.

When I read
Seth Godin’s book Linchpin, I was enlivened by several of his concepts. Mainly
the ones that empower artists or that encourage me to go further in my work.
I was eager to discuss the book with anyone who would listen. Unfortunately, I found that it’s better to talk about a book with people who are actually interested in it!
So I called Mark McGuinness of Lateral Action and invited him to join me in conversation. We’ve put together a plan – we’ll be recording a call next week where we’ll discuss Linchpin. We’re creating a worksheet to give along with the call, full of our best coaching questions to help you get more out of Seth’s book, Linchpin, even if you haven’t read it.
We're hoping that our coaching questions will help you to not just read the book, nod, and move on. We want it to be a way to coach yourself to your greater potential.
The call will be recorded and you’ll be able to listen to it for free at your convenience. We’ll be talking about the role of the artist, the nature of a gift economy, the ever-present Resistance, and whatever you want us to discuss.

I made my recent film featuring designer and journal keeper Marty Gregg in my studio, or what I like to call my atelier.
Not because I'm a snooty frenchie. Atelier because I like the word. One day there was the most luminous play of light at the entrance of the atelier. It's a magical place.
In the film you'll see shots of my atelier, complete with the messy bits. But I want to point you toward the art.
In the video you may see the art of two artists whom I know and whose work I love. You have to watch carefully to catch them. Writers and other creative types are often notoriously hard on ourselves. Yes, I got published, but they didn’t pay much, you’ll hear. Or, sure I got a show, but it isn’t a solo show. Dissatisfaction is the bane of the creative’s existence.
