Do you wish for a place to create alongside fellow writers & artists?
I do! In my French studies, I was obsessed with Hemingway and Stein’s Paris. I loved the idea of artists meeting in cafes to discuss their projects. I designed my creativity retreats in Paris around this idea of a shared creative community hanging out in public.
My favorite Paris scent isn’t the smell of croissants baking but instead the smell of an art studio. The pencil shavings, the scent of paper and books and dust, the palpable feeling of magic in the making.
Paris holds the tradition of shared work, in the atelier method. An atelier (ah-tell-ee-yay) is an art studio guided by a teacher who focuses the group on practice and learning. Ateliers existed as a way to learn a craft from a master. In Paris, I see ateliers everywhere, where people gather to make things and put them into the world.
I craved the feeling of a shared studio. The rare and special vibe of group focus and intention that an atelier gives.
It’s this kind of environment that allows us to stay through to the end of a project. The shared accountability gives us something we can’t do on our own.
You might squirm at the idea of structure, but we actually crave it. Think of it this way: our creative pursuits are like a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Gorgeous and life-affirming but without the structure of a vase, they’re dead.
Structure or no structure, our creative dreams never just die. They linger to haunt us and remind us that there’s always that…thing…we should be making.
Let’s make 2019 a resounding creative success!
The good news is, many of us felt a big shift in 2017. Something got out of the way and you perhaps feel a renewed sense of purpose and commitment for your creative project.
I feel it too. So I took a page from the French. I designed an online creative studio where together we will do the work that matters most to us. The Original Impulse Atelier is your place to learn, grow and thrive creatively.
Unlike a traditional atelier, in the Original Impulse Atelier, we aren’t teaching art or writing skills. We make progress on projects that are meaningful to us and offer value to the world.
When it comes to making progress, you know that you’re more likely to be productive in a group. You fondly recall the days when you were surrounded by a group of creative camrades. Where you each worked on your own projects, sparking each other to thrive at your creative edge.
You can have that creative joy again in the Original Impulse Atelier.
Finally, a place to be inspired and productive on things that drive real change in our lives.
Finally, a place that recognizes that creative work isn’t just a matter of disciplining yourself to just do it – making is a deep expression from your soul.
Your creative vision
Imagine it: Next year, you’re riding the inimitable high of your own creative joy. You’ve finished that book, launched that blog, or gotten your art into the world. You’ve finally figured out how to consistently make time for productive creativity. Feels deeply exciting, doesn’t it?
Your project is Soul Work. It’s a deep reflection of who you are and how you see the world. It’s important for you to finally capture it and share it in a form that is right for you. A book, a body of art, a business idea…it has to be made, now. It’s time.
For me, it’s my next book. This idea has been outlined for years! Finally, it is time to put this project on the front burner. I need more focus than just grabbing writing quickies here and there. I need structure, and I bet you do too. These creative dreams are ready to be made real, and we are stepping up to the work.
Based on what I know best serves you and others, I have built a new space for us in 2019. If you are serious about getting your creative stuff done (while having fun), read on.

Your coach, Cynthia Morris
As a member of the Original Impulse Atelier, you are a cherished client of mine. I regard you and your project with respect. I will do everything I can to help you stay with your agenda. I will:
Host weekly Salon gatherings These are Q&A style, where the content is based on your needs.
Post audio recordings of Salons If you cannot attend a session for emergency reasons, the audio of the Salons will be available within 24 hours.
Coach members through weekly check-ins This is where you feel the sense of ongoing support. Monday and Friday check-ins are mandatory and give you a frame for your work week. Wednesday check-ins are as-needed.
Provide additional resources as needed I’ve published many resources about the creative process and am constantly learning about new ones. I love accessing my archives for just the right resource for your immediate needs.
Give brief email support Sometimes you need to ask a private question or send an SOS. I am there for you. I do not email on weekends.
Provide brief feedback on written materials For short text like emails, web copy or chapter drafts, I am happy to have a look at a Google doc and give brief feedback. Deep editing is outside the scope of our focus; if needed, I can point you to editing resources.
Share monthly studio visits I will be writing a book and using the focus of the Original Impulse Atelier to get my own project done. Previous mentees have found it helpful to see my process.
Let’s make magic together.
